PSA Meeting with AIESEC

I hope my words will find you in the best of your health. Last week we had
a meeting with AIESEC, who claim to be the world’s largest student driven
organization. The meeting agenda was to get information what they are
offering and what is beneficial for all Pakistani students among that.

During the discussion, we figured out that their offer is quite interesting
and most of the students here in Norrkoping can easily avail. Though the
membership cost might feel a little out of budget, but once we compare
the benefits I feel that the amount justify what we are getting.

Eid-ul-Azha 2011

I hope my words will find all you in the best of your health. These days we
are blessed with the month of Zil Hija, Millions of Muslims
are performing Hajj these days including few from the circle of our friends
and family.  Since we are way too far away from our country, we cant feel
the true spirit of these events unless we involve ourself in the
related religious activities. The least we can do on behalf of PSA is to
arrange some events for the Eid day. It will make our day memorable and
freshen up the memories.

This year, the *special opportunity for us is that the Eid day is on Sunday*,
which enables us to have *Eid functions on the same day*. This will add
true flavors of Eid to our events. We have reserved 2 halls in the
university, and we are expecting your participation in the function. Most
of the segments in the event are organized like previous years apart from
slight change, that we have reserved *separate hall for ladies*, so that
they have a more independent function.

All families are requested to *prepare rice enough for 8-10 people*, while
group of *2 people will cook 2kg chicken*. Drinks, Icecream, crockery  and
other material needed will be provided by PSA.

The venue and timing chosen for this event is as under

*Date : Sunday, November 6th 2011.*

*Venue : Kakenhus (K3 & K24)*

*Timing : 2pm – 6pm* (We have reserved a hall from university management,
hence we have to follow the time line, your punctuality in this regard is
highly appreciated)

P.S : We request you all to step forward and let us know your willingness
to any volunteer work on the stage or back stage. Your contribution can
help us make this event better.

It is to bring in your notice, that we have started a campaign for the
collection of funds / donations from all Pakistani community members. As you
already know that this process was lastly initiated in 2009, and since then
due to some reasons the process was delayed for about 2 years. Now its our
responsibility to initiate the process and be part of the campaign. The
current financial statement is also online and the balance is in negative
from quite long. You are requested to please participate and send your
donations at the account details mentioned at the end of this email.

Eid-ul-Fitr : Prayer Timings

Today I’ve checked the Eid timings with Islamic Center (Moske near
university on Bredgatan), they mentioned that they have extended the moske
praying area specially for Eid Prayer. As the new academic session is
started, so I personally suggest that we may gather in that moske so that we
can wish eid to each other and then go university after namaz depending upon
our schedule, but other than that everyone have their own choice its just my
personal opinion. I’ve confirmed the timing of the prayer with them and it
is as follows.

  •    Islamic Center at Bredgatan (Biyaan 7am , Namaz 7:30) – Personally Verified
  •    Sumaliska Moske at Finux (Namaz 8:30) – Verified by Afzal Siddiqui
  •    Bosniska Moske at Trädgårdsgatan (Namaz 6:30) – Source Unverified

I wish you all a very blessed eid,  May Allah bless you and your family with
happiness and love on this joyous day, and in all the days and months and
years to come.

Mr.Naveed ul Hassan Alvi is defending his thesis “Luminescence Properties
of Zno Nanostructures and Their Implementation as White Light Emitting
Diodes (LEDs)”. on August 26th at Kakenhus , Hall K2, 10am.

I believe this will be a very information session for those who are
interested in learning new scientific advancements, and it will help us
learn how to present the thesis as well.

Intracellular Environments”. on September 2nd, at Kakenhus , Hall K2, 10am.

PSA Website : New colors, new style …

Finally, the new website is ready for Pakistan Student Association. The newer version is more user friendly and auto pilot like Twitter feeds, Picassa Web Album, etc.

All events will be announced on the website along with the google group / yahoo group. And event pictures will always be found on the event gallery right after the event. If you have the camera, please be a volunteer to take pictures and upload it in the gallery. We’ll give you credits to your photos wherever possible.

The twitter feeds are getting auto generated from the google group emails, so please note that only serious emails will be moderated on the group with special concerns on the subject line as it will be published on the website.

One of the section that is still under construction is Alumni section, my aim is to gather all the data of current and past students of LiU and make it available online as a reference & inspiration for feature students. This will help us getting united, staying in touch, and helping each other in a better way.
